XENON LIGHTS HISTORY

Xenon Lights can be use to describe a wide range of automotive lighting solution

FACTORY FITTED XENON LIGHTS

The original xenon lights were fitted to prestige cars such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes.  These are the powerful white headlights that seem to have a blue hue around them which you see when driving at night.  The correct term for these lights is High Intensity Gas Discharge (HID) Xenon Lights.  The bulbs in these cars works by having an extremely high voltage spark ignite Xenon gas within the glass bulb.  The bulbs used in these systems are normally D2R or D2S bulbs and we offer a range of standard and upgrade bulbs of this type

XENON UPGRADE HEADLIGHT BULBS

Once drivers had seen these lights on prestige cars there was a demand to get the same ‘look’ on older cars fitted with standard halogen bulbs.  Standard Halogen bulbs work by a having a coil filament heat up the Halogen gas with the glass bulb. In order to give drivers of these older cars the Xenon lights ‘look’ Manufacturers like Osram, Ring and Philips improved the design and precision of the coil filament and added Xenon Gas to the Halogen within the glass bulb.  The resulting bulbs are called Xenon Upgrade Bulbs, and they are up to 90% brighter than standard halogen bulbs, giving an improved beam pattern and greater depth for that Xenon Lights look.

HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE (HID) XENON CONVERSION KITS

Despite the improvements that Xenon Upgrade Bulbs bring some drivers still required the full and powerful HID Xenon Lights look for their cars and so the HID Xenon Conversion kits was created.  These kits fit cars with a standard halogen headlight system and will give the vehicle the full HID Xenon lights output and in many cases be brighter than the HID system fitted to prestige cars.
